Student Behavior Contract
Student: Walter Martin Carrillo
School: Roosevelt · Oakland Unified
Grade: 7
Case Manager: Aris Tunson
Date: ______________________
1. Why we are making this contract
Walter is an important part of our class. Recently, there have been repeated concerns with:
- Leaving class without permission / skipping
- Being tardy or missing from class while on campus
- Disruptive or disrespectful behavior
- Verbal abuse and cussing toward staff or students
- Property damage / graffiti
Before considering changes like a minimum schedule, we are agreeing on this plan to help Walter stay successful in school.
2. My goals
For the next 4 weeks, my goals are:
- Stay in class – I will stay in class the entire period unless I use my agreed‑upon break signal and get permission.
- Use school language – I will speak to teachers and students without cussing, threats, or name‑calling.
- Follow directions – I will follow adult directions the first time whenever possible, or ask respectfully if I need help.
- Protect our school – I will not damage or tag school property (including bathrooms, walls, desks, and materials).
3. Supports I will receive
To help me meet these goals, the school agrees to:
- Give me a break card/signal I can use instead of walking out (for a 2–3 minute calm corner break with permission).
- Allow me to use a calm area in the classroom when I’m frustrated (not the hallway or bathroom).
- Provide help with work when I ask (teacher, para, or case manager will check in).
- Meet with me once per week (case manager or counselor) to look at my weekly points/behavior data and talk about how things are going.
4. How my progress will be checked
Each class period, teachers will rate whether I:
- Stayed in class the whole time
- Used school language
- Followed directions
At the end of each week, my case manager will add up my points, review any incident reports, and share the results with me and my family.
5. Rewards for meeting goals
If I meet my goals for the week (for example, 80% or more of my period points):
I may earn one or more of these:
- Extra time on a preferred activity (drawing, Chromebook activity allowed by school, game, music while working)
- A positive phone call / message home
- A special job (helping set up, organizing materials, helping another student, classroom assistant role)
6. Consequences if I do not follow this contract
If I do not follow the expectations in this contract (for example, skipping, cussing at staff, or damaging property):
- Staff may call home or schedule a meeting with my family.
- My seat, schedule, or how I move around campus may change.
- Privileges I earned through my point system may be removed.
If serious problems continue after this contract and supports, the team may move forward with a minimum schedule or other changes to my school day to keep everyone safe and learning.
7. Agreement
By signing this contract, we agree to work together to help Walter stay safe, stay in class, and be successful at school.
